All Of Our Stories
Interviewing | Creative Writing | Illustration
Millennials are often told that they don't know how to love. To portray the contrary, I interviewed 8 college students and asked them to tell me about someone (a partner, a parent, a sibling, a pet or a passion) they love. Then, I created blackout love poems for each interview, from WhatsApp chats with a partner.
I want to portray that even though we may show love differently now, the level of care, understanding and intimacy is the same in all of our stories.

in every minute
and every moment
you exist with me
and time
is just fantasy
where you and I
are forever young
starting a new life
together

i know
what you’re thinking
when you’re awake
and you’re trying to sleep
those nights
i sleep over

and the day after
was hell for me
you call me
on those days
and I am okay
okay
okay
you know
the part of me
that I don’t think about
that I wouldn’t
know to mention

but you don’t know
you don’t believe
how much
you mean to me

you’re a weird
i completely understand
so special
you know how
to make a long day
a good night
and a good morning
the best

with some breakfast
and some love
you
have been
the world
i feel stronger in
and now
i see you
first in focus
second in transition
and third
in me

vulnerability
is easier
when I know
you want
to understand it

now i don’t
feel so alone

now I know
how to be there
for myself
now I know
that you
have issues too
you and i
got two tickets
and some time
tonight
let’s go to London
we’ll watch tv
and go to parties
and drink
to us
and to
tomorrow

there’s always
a lyric
and a sound
to falling in love
and all these songs
belong
to you
