What is Home for You?
Experience/Installation Design
Memories are formless, continuously reconstructed every time they are recalled. Our memories of a space, a place, a time, are deeply influenced by the architecture of the space itself. The physical forms represent and contain these changing memories, thus, changing in meaning over time.
A home is the first space we inhabit and form memories within, and even though the generic iconic representation of a home is widely recognized, the actual memory space we create when we think of home varies for each individual, at different times.
I wanted to create a space which people could inhabit, share their memories in and experience what home means to others, as they read each other’s recollections and form a collective memory of the idea of home through this interaction.
